What is my 29 Day Painting Challenge?

Welcome to my Fundraiser for The Huntington's Disease Association!

Some of you may remember a personal challenge I participated in last year, where I painted an A5 oil painting for every day of the month in February. We documented the process on social media, and had a showing of the finished work in Bridport at my first exhibition!

It was an immense month, and I was certain I wasn't going to put myself through something like that again...

Until December rolled around, and I started reflecting on the past year.

I looked at how much I grew as an artist, and I kept finding myself thinking of February and my 28 day painting challenge. How many opportunities it provided me. Ways I could have made it less stressful and more impactful.

Last year I did the challenge on a whim. If I did it again, maybe I could be more prepared and add a charitable aspect?

I found myself excited at the thought of it again!

So here we are, a full year later with an extra day in the month (It's a leap year!) and I'm ready to tackle 29 paintings and raise money for the Huntington's Disease Association in the name of my late uncle-in-law Mike Clarkson.

For the month of February, 2024, I'll be redirecting the traffic from my social media to try to raise as much money as we can for Huntington's. We are hoping to hit the £1000 mark before the end of the month!

In addition to this, once the collection is for sale: I'll be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Huntington's Disease Association.

Why did I choose the Huntington's Disease Association?

For those of you who don’t know: Huntington's has had a horrible impact on my father-in-law's family; so finding a cure and raising awareness is important to us on a very personal level.

Most people we know have never heard of Huntington's, making it all the more important to spread awareness and raise funds.

What is Huntington's?

Huntington's is a condition that damages nerve cells in the brain causing them to stop working properly. It's passed on (inherited) from a person's parents. The damage to the brain gets worse over time. It can affect movement, cognition (perception, awareness, thinking, judgement) and mental health.

What is the Huntington's Disease Association?

The Huntington's Disease Association supports anyone who is affected by Huntington's disease across England and Wales. They pursue the best possible care; provide training & advice to families and professionals; raise awareness, and promote research towards better treatment and care.

If you've made it this far, thank you so much for supporting my journey as an artist - and also for considering supporting the Huntington's Disease Association. Every little (and big!) bit counts!

About the prize draw!

I'm offering the chance to win day 29's original A5 painting from my 29 day painting challenge this year. I can't show you a picture of the painting, because it doesn't exist yet.

However, I can tell you that this painting will be incredibly special, not just because it will be painted on an intercalary day, but because it will be painted under very special and unique circumstances... and that's all I can say about that for now!

If you want to know more about why this painting is going to be so unique, make sure you follow me on socials and keep your eyes peeled for Day 29's big reveal.

All the proceeds from this prize draw will be donated to the Huntington's Disease Association.
